Abstract
Introduction: The duration of using hearing protection device affects the performance of hearing protection. Most of performed trainings in various industries are to increase person’s knowledge about the way of using the hearing protection device not increasing the duration of using it which needs more investigation.
Materials & Methods: In this cross-sectional study by Basnef questionnaire, the data was collected just before training intervention and 3 months after that. The training intervention was performed as 5 training sessions by lecture, questioning, and answering. SMS and posters reminded the main training points.
Findings: Mean score at all areas of Basnef model increased after training intervention that was significant statistically (p-value< 0.001). Mean score in control group did not changed. These findings showed that the highest score was related to behavior intention and the lowest score was for enabling factors respectively. Also abstract norms construct had a significant impact on training intervention.
Discussion & Conclusions: The results show that abstract norms construct was effective in increasing the duration of using the hearing protection device; therefore, it is recommended to be intentioned in planning and training intervention.
