Eutrophication can cause the decrease of the water quality because of the introduction of the nutrient such as nitrate and phosphorus. In higher reservoir such as Ekbatan dam, the quality of water as a result of algae is not permissible by consumers. The aim of this study was to investigate the Eutrophication of Ekbatan dam based on the Carlson and Chapra indexes. Materials and Methods: In this study, Eutrophication of the Akbatan Lake was determined by monthly measurements of nitrate, phosphate and chlorophyll during 2010. The samplings were conducted in the depth of 0.5 m of the reservoir. Then, the Eutrophication conditions of the dam were determined on the based on Eutrophication Carlson and Chapra indexes. Results and Discussion: Results showed, the more Eutrophication had as for August (53.66 Eutrophic) and Minimal Eutrophication status as for February (45.97 Eutrophic). our result Indicates that the reservoir has improved conditions in the winter Mesotrophic. Also the high Eutrophication was observed at Station of No. 6 of the Lakes. Phosphorus compound was a main factor for eutrophication that entered lakes reservoir of extra resources. Conclusion: The Eutrophication indexes showed that lake have the dangerous eutrophication conditions during a most months of the year this phenomenon could be serious and reduced of dissolved oxygen in water in dry and normal years and was reduced of water quality from the dam.
