Comparison the quality of life in patients with diabetes type 2 and non-diabetic individuals

Introduction: Diabetes is a chronic disease that has widespread effects on individual and social performance. The purpose of this study was to compare the quality of life in patients with diabetes type 2 and non-diabetic individuals. Materials & Methods: The design of this research was ex-post facto. The sample consisted of all patients with diabetes type 2, who were members of Diabetic A-ssociation in the city of Ahvaz in 1390. The sample was selected by available sampling method. Among the patients who referred to the Diabetic Association, 50 type 2 diabetic patients and 50 non-diabetic rela-tives of clients who were matched for sex and education were selected. Then, the Quality of life Questionnaire was distri-buted between these two groups. The collected data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Multivariate Variance Analysis Method (MANOVA). Findings: Results indicated that there was a significant difference in quality of life between the two groups (p<0.001). Also, there was a significant difference between groups in all aspects of quality of life except social environment. Discussion & Conclusion: Diabetes is a ch-ronic disease that affects patients' quality of life.
