%0 Journal Article %T A Case Report of Mania Due to Pseudohypoparathyroidistic Disorder %J Journal of Ilam University of Medical Sciences %V 14 %N 4 %U http://sjimu.medilam.ac.ir/article-1-59-en.html %R %D 2007 %K Pseudo Hypoparathyroidism, Bipolar I Disorder, Calcium and Phosphorous metabolism, %X Abstract Introduction: Pseudohypoparathyroidism is an uncommon disorder related to Calcium and phosphorous metabolism with peripheral resistance to PTH. There are many clinical types of such disorders. Pseudohypoparathyroidism with maniacal disorder has just been reported only once ina 13-year-old girl. Materials & Methods: This case was a 16- year- old boy who presented an elevated mood along with aggression, irritability, visual hallucination, paranoid and grandoise delusion. Thus, he was admitted in a mental with diagnosis of bipolar disorder. Except for a 1.5 hours history of dizziness, disorientation and aggression, The patient complained of no other physical signs. Then, he underwent a treatment with 900mg lithium for one month. Accordingly, the disorder symptoms reduced but a complete remission was not achieved after ward. Having done more typical investigations, Pseudohypoparathyroidism was diagnosed and confirmed with laboratory tests such as Calcium and phosphorous and PTH and alkaline Phosphatas levels e Conclusion: After taking two tablets of Rocatrol and two tablets of calcium as well as lithium. The patient regained his complete recovery.
