Nerve growth factors and insulin-like growth factor can specifically play a role in their regulation. Materials&Methods: This research is an experimental study. Forty eight male rats (200-250 g) were used. After axotomy, 1 cm segment of the sciatic nerve in rats was resected, then the gap was bridged by one of the four methods (polyvinylidene fluoride or PVDF + nerve growth factor + insulin growth factor -1, autograft, sham and control). Sciatic nerve was studied by electron microscope after 4 and 12 weeks of implantation. Findings: After 4 weeks of regeneration , the mean number of unmyelinated axons in autograft and nerve growth factor groups was not significant , but after 12 weeks of implantation , the mean number of unmyelinated axons in autograft group was superior to that of the nerve growth factor group (P LA eng UL http://sjimu.medilam.ac.ir/article-1-44-en.html M3 ER -
